H. Heckenberg rite Thursday

Hazel l. Heckenberg, 72, rural Mount Pleasant, died at 1:45 p.m. Monday, May 8, 1989, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Round Prairie Baptist Church with the Rev. Ron VanderHart officiating. Burial will be in Lambirth Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Behner Funeral Home. A memorial has been established to Round Prairie Baptist Church.

Mrs. Heckenberg was born Nov. 25, 1916, in Round Prairie Township, Jefferson County, the daughter of Berton and Maggie Hudson Humphrey. She married Harold "Dutch" Heckenberg May 23, 1936, in Mount Pleasant. She was a homemaker, a teacher in the Glasgow School and a member of Round Prairie Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Janice Wells of West Des Moines; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four brothers, Arlo Humphrey of Farmington, Earl Humphrey of Mount Pleasant, Harold and Howard Humphrey, both of Burlington. A brother, James Humphrey, preceded her in death.
