Charles William Ritz, Jr.

Charles William Ritz Jr., 69, recently of Burlington, died March 16, 1989 at the Winchester Nursing Home in Libertyville, Illinois. He was born Sept. 7, 1919 in Milton, Iowa to Charles William Sr. and Nora Miller Ritz. He grew up and attended school in Milton. In 1947 he moved to Burlington, Iowa, worked for a construction company, owned and operated a tavern from 1964 until he retired in 1981. He moved to Grayslake, Illinois in 1984.

He was a World War II veteran, was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by a sister, Kathryn Elliott, of Grayslake, Ill., niece Deborah Elliott of Mundelein, Ill., nephew, David Elliott, Des Moines, Iowa, aunts, Mrs. Harold Paulson of Story City, Iowa, and Mrs. Jesse Miller, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, and several cousins.

Funeral services were held March 21, 1989 at the Sheagren Funeral Home in Burlington, with Dr. Dodder of the First Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in the Troy Cemetery, Troy, Iowa. Russell-Strait Post No. 483 provided the military honors.
