Mary Margaret Morrow Burke
Mary Margaret Burke, 73, died August 18, 1989 of cancer at Gig Harbor, Washington.
She was born May 13, 1916 in Douds, Iowa the daughter of Orville and Nellie Morrow. She was raised and graduated from high school in Douds and then attended Parsons College in Fairfield. She taught in rural schools for several years in Van Buren County.
Mrs. Burke belonged to the United Methodist Church and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
In 1947, she married Joseph W. Burke. He survives at the family home. Also surviving are one step-son; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one brother, Otho Morrow of Sedona, Arizona; one sister, Della Sturzen of Kalispell, Montana; and a step-mother, Nita Morrow of Glendora, California.
During Mr. Burke's Naval career, they lived on the islands of Midway and Hawaii, and in the states of Iowa, Nebraska and California. Upon leaving the Navy, Mr. Burke became a Methodist minister. He and Mary lovingly cared for the members of several churches in Wisconsin.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service was to be held in Egg Harbor, Wisconsin.
