Lucile L. Miller

Lucile L. Miller, daughter of James E. and Anetta Allen Turnipseed, was born June 11, 1896 at Wellman, Iowa, and died the morning of Thursday, January 19, 1989 at Jefferson County Hospital Extended Care Unit in Fairfield at the age of 92.

She lived as a child in Washington County, moved with her parents to Jefferson County as a youth and graduated from Fairfield High School in 1914. On January 14, 1919 she married Fred Miller in Ottumwa. They spent their married life farming in the Mount Zion community southwest of Libertyville. Mr. Miller passed away in 1961 and she moved to Fairfield in 1963.

Surviving are three daughters, Charlotte Bissig and her husband Lindley of Fairfield, Bettye Bartholow and her husband, Olen of Libertyville and Maxine Boley and her husband, Wayne of Keosauqua, a son, Fred Miller and his wife, Nancy of Muscatine, ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Ruthe Childress, Lincoln, Nebr. and Ada Keifer, Des Moines, other relatives and friends. An infant son, Joseph, two brothers, George and Everett Turnipseed, and a sister, Mirian Turnipseed preceded her in death.

Mrs. Miller was a member of First United Methodist Church, Fairfield United Methodist Women, had been a teacher of the Philathea Sunday School Class, and was a member of the Jefferson County Hospital Auxiliary and the Women's Christian Temperance Union.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 21, 1989 at 1 p.m. in First United Methodist Church, Fairfield, with Rev. Clair Odell officiating. Interment was in Fell Cemetery near Libertyville. A memorial was established for her church. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua.
