Mrs. C. H. [Charles Henry] [Mary Eliza Harrington] Bacon passed away Friday (10/7/1932) at her home in Creston. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon (10/10/1932) at the home with Rev. Paul Zeke (sp?), pastor of the Congregational Church officiating. Burial was made in the family lot in Cromwell cemetery beside her husband who preceded her in death many years.
The service was attended by friends (unclear) ----- Cromwell and Creston who came to pay their _____respect with whom they enjoyed _______for many years. Mrs. Bacon and husband were pioneer settlers of Adams county living on a farm near Cromwell for over 50 (?) years. Mrs. Bacon was born in Providence, Illinois and was married in ____ 1873. In the same year Mr. and Mrs. Bacon came to Adams County settling on a farm near Cromwell. In 1900 they moved to Creston. Mr. Bacon died in 1904. Mrs. Bacon’s active life was given to church activities. She was prominent in church and state W. C. T. U. work. She actively worked in the Foreign Missionary Society of the Congregational church, holding both local and day school and church services.
She was the mother of William H. Bacon, deceased; Charles, of South Bend, Indiana; Mrs. Alden Smock, Cromwell; Miss Georgianna Bacon, Creston; Ira Francis, Del Norta, California, and Ralph Waldo, Cromwell. She is survived by one brother W. H. Harrington of Buda, Illinois. Grandchildren are ____Bacon and Georgia Bacon, Creston; Charles Edgar, South Bend, Indiana, Harry and Hazel Smock, Cromwell, Mrs. Helen Baker, Mt. Ayr, and Mildred Bacon, Cromwell and Mildred and Joyce Bacon Del Norta, Calif.
