CLYDE FILBERT RITES TUESDAY: Services Held at Hoffman Funeral Home
Clyde V. Filbert, 64, former Adair marshal and street commissioner died Sunday morning at the Adair Nursing Home, where he had been a patient for about three years.Funeral services were held at 1:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Hoffman Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Wilton M. Grant. Mrs. Neil Lundy sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "Beautiful Isle". Mrs. Dora Noland was the accompanist. Mrs. Don Betts and Mrs. Lynn F. Kilcoin were in charge of the flowers.
Casket bearers were Albert Schalow, Oliver Shobert, B. J. Richter, Robert Elgin, Kenneth Grimes and Robert Cooper. Interment was in Sunnyhill cemetery.
Mr. Filbert was born July 7, 1900, at Sharpsburg, Iowa, the son of Norris and Lydia Filbert. Besides serving as marshal and street commissioner for the town of Adair, he was employed for several years by the Burr Hardware Store and by the Farmers Grain Exchange. Previously he had been employed in a hardware store in Casey.
At one time Mr. Filbert was employed as a steeplejack and in the construction and repair of water towers. He was seriously injured in a fall from a water tower and underwent facial plastic surgery as a result. He reportedly never fully recovered from those injuries.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Earl Shaffer of Villisca and Mrs. Loren Boyer of Silver City.
