A heart attack was the cause of his death, and it was a terrible shock to members of his family and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Bethel Lutheran church, followed by burial in the Story City cemetery, with Rev. G. O. Paulsrud in charge, who also had baptized and confirmed the deceased.

The pall bearers were Dwight Wendel, Frithjof Larson, Palmer Christenson, Torkel Hill, Burton Gandrup and Gerhard Brattebo, all former schoolmates of SCHS.

Among those from a distance who attended were Mr. and Mrs. O. O. Hovland of Clarion, Dwight Wendel of Galveston, Texas, Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Larson of Oklahoma, Mrs. Elldora Heitritter, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jantzen, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Fiihr, Mrs. Martha Heitritter and daughter Elsie, Mrs. Martin Baerenwald and Sue Van Deipen, all of Boyden; Mrs. James Bollman of Sheldon, and many relatives and friends of the surrounding community.
