Callenius Farm receives Centennial Farm Award
The farm of George Callenius, located one mile east and two miles north of Granville, was one of 231 Iowa farms awarded a metal farm marker designating a Century Farm by the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation at ceremonies held at the Iowa State Fair in August. Honoring Iowa's farm heritage, Iowa Secretary of Agriculture, Robert H. Lounsberry presented the awards....
Mr. Callenius' son Don and his granddaughter, Donna Callenius, of Dallas, Tex., presented George and his wife Evelyn, with an outstanding plaque which they carved and finished from oak. On the board they attached a spur, stirrup and branding iron which were all prized possessions of the Callenius ancestry. Both Mr. and Mrs. Callenius are active citizens of the community and having served on various state and county boards.
[n.b., this farm may be located just over the county line in O'Brien County]
