I received this e-mail inquiring about the Lohrmann family in Iowa. I wanted to share this by posting it on the query boards:

Dear Friends,

I’m from Buenos Aires in Argentina and I’m tracing the genealogy of my great-grandfather who was born in the USA .

I’m contacting you because I’m looking for the birthplace of my great-grandfather Henry Clay Lohrmann son of Bartholomäus Lohrmann and Elizabeth Douglas Beattie.

According to an old resume wrote by a daughter of Henry Clay, he was born in Ringols in des Moines, but I found a County and a City named des Moines .

My great-grandfather was Henry Clay Lohrmann and was born in Jan 14th, 1875.

Henry has a brother named David Douglas Lohrmann who was born in Jan 1st, 1872.

Henry and David were sons of Bartholomäus Lohrmann (who was born in Ballendorf, Alb-Donau-Kreis, Württemberg, Germany) and Elizabeth Douglas Beattie from Canada.

I’ve a Census of Las Animas County in Colorado where I could find the whole family including two step-daughters of Bartholomäus.

My question is regarding the birthplace of Henry Clay and David Douglas.

Do you know if there is a possibility to find the birth record of my ancestry (may be church records)?

I really hope you could assist me in my investigation.
