Mattie J. Elliott, daughter of Rev. and Sister S.A. Elliott, was born in Woodhull, Henry county, Ill., July 29, 1860; made a profession of religion in the fall of 1872; was married to Thomas Barnes March 1,1880; died at her home in Leon, Iowa, on the morning of December 5, 1888. She lived a true Christian life, and the seeds of righteousness sown by her will accomplish much before their influence shall cease in eternity. She had been in feeble health for some time, and was ready to go when the death angel called. She leaves a sorrowing husband and four little children. Her remains were brought to her father’s, and from there conveyed to Middle Fork Cemetery, where they were interred beside a loved sister, who preceded her about eight years. At her request the funeral sermon was preached by the writer, at the Middle Fork Chapel, December 6th, at 2 p.m. Text selected, Isaiah 85:10. P.C. GLENDENNING.
