Webb, Wiley Dee -
Wiley Dee Webb, son of Charlie D and Jessie Mae (Marshall) Webb, was born at
home, west of Lamoni, on October 9, 1929. Wiley graduated from Mount Ayr
High School and attended two years at Graceland College in Lamoni. Wiley lived his
adult life at Clarinda, Bedford, and Lenox, a resident of Taylor Ridge Estates for
several years. Wiley was a serious, educated man. He loved history and enjoyed trips
to the museum and historic places of interest. Wiley liked to tell stories of his
yester-years; his travels; his talks of jobs that he held as a young man with
farming being his favorite and autumn the favorite season.
Wiley played the piano, claiming never to be good at it, with "How Great Thou Art"
being his favorite song. Wiley collected a hat from each state visited. His favorite
color was blue and his outfit of choice was blue denim pants & shirt.
When going out to eat, whether it is breakfast, lunch, or dinner, you could bet it
would be hamburgers: and Dr Pepper! He spoke highly of his family and friends. He
cherished his class reunions and enjoyed talking of his memories of class mates.
Wiley passed away peacefully, but unexpectantly, on November 4, 2006 at Taylor
Ridge Estates. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Kyle and a
sister Thelma Adams.
Survivors include his sister Georgia Campbell of Mount Ayr; brothers Richard, of
Villisca, Gary of Jefferson,TX, and Dennis of Ft. Worth, TX; nieces, nephews, and
his dear friends at Taylor Ridge Estates.
Wilson-Watson andArmstrong Funeral Home Of Mount Ayr was in charge of
arrangements for Wiley.
Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Mount Ayr.
