OBITUARY - OSCAR WALL

Oscar WALL, son of John and Matilda [Josephine] BIGGS WALL, was born June 4, 1870 at Monroe, Iowa and passed away at his home in Greenfield, Iowa, May 8, 1939 at the age of 68 years, 11 months and 4 days.

He spent his early life in Mt Ayr, Iowa. He came to Greenfield and was employed here for several years. Before his marriage he had built the home which has been the family home for 38 years, in the same house in which he died. Here he was married to Mary HEATHERINGTON Oct 5, 1899 by the Rev. John YOUNG. One daughter was born to them, Mrs Marjorie LOVELL. His wife Mary HEATHERINGTON WALL Wall died November 11, 1911, leaving to his care the daughter Marjorie.

Of his family, one sister Nora died in childhood. There remains three brothers, Edgar WALL of Long Beach, Calif; Dr. Luther WALL of Burlington, Iowa; Frank WALL of Galesville, Wis. and one sister, Mrs. Rosetta GALLOWAY of Helena, Mont. There are four grandchildren.

Since the daughter's marriage, he has made his home with her and her husband. He had been in declining health for some time and slipped away at the turn of the night on May 8.

He was known to many people of the time for he had spent much of his life here. He was patient and quiet in his life, and had made many friends throughout the town and community.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 at the Methodist church in Greenfield. The Rev. W. H. CABLE, former pastor, conducted the services assisted by the Rev. M. R. TALLEY. Music was furnished by the male quartet; M. G. KELLAM, P. L. BICKFORD, F. E. RHODES and Russell PIPER with Mrs. Ora BUTLER as accompanist. The selections were "The Old Rugged Cross"; "The Silver Cord" and "Asleep in Jesus." Those serving as pallbearers were Robert POWER, Frank REYNOLDS, Vearl KENT, J. B. RUBY, W. A. MASTEN and A. R. HOWE. Interment took place in the Greenfield cemetery.
