OBITUARY - HARRY EDWIN FUGATE

Harry Edwin, son James E. and Bell C. HALL FUGATE, was born Aug. 17, 1901, in Ringgold County, Iowa, and passed away Sept. 15, 1968, in the Ringgold County hospital in Mount Ayr, at the age of 67 years and 28 days.

His entire life was spent near Beaconsfield and Kellerton. In 1929 he moved to Kellerton and worked with O. C. HULL of the Kellerton Oil company until 1944 when he and his brother Ora, became owners of the business. He retired from the business to his farm home five years ago.

In October, 1922, he was united in marriage with Mabel THOMAS and of this union were born three children -- Cleo (Mrs. Wayne HIGHLAND) of Fort Dodge, LaVeta (Mrs. Raymond BROOKS) of Kellerton and Everett of Carlisle.

He gave his life to Christ on Nov. 8, 1918, and was baptized in the Christian church at Kellerton, where he remained a faithful member.

On April 8, 1941, he was united in marriage with Cela ALTWOOD who loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as her own.

His kind and cheeful dispostion brought him friends wherever he went and he was always happiest when serving others.

He was one of a family of 12. His parents two sisters, Alma and Elsie, and a brother Claude preceded him in death.

Left to cherish his memory are his widow, Cela; three children; eight grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; five sisters, Nellie COOK of Mount Ayr, Mary MORRIS of Riverton, Wyo., Edna FUGATE and Neva HOFF of Kellerton, and Myrtle TAGGART of Des Moines; three brothers, William of Janesville, Wis., Jesse of Riverton, Wyo., and Ora of Kellerton, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Sept 18, from the Kellerton Christian church, conducted by the Rev. M. J. WILKINS. Mrs. Joe HAINLINE, vocalist, was accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Clifford TAYLOR, and casketbearers were Lawrence COMBS, Charles FIFER, Orlo VAUGHN, Sam MERRILL, Clarence GREIMANN, and Kenneth MICKAEL. Burial was in the Maple Row cemetery at Kellerton.
