Seymour Farmer Stricken While at Work in Field

Watson BEATTY, 62 year old farmer living north of Seymour [Iowa], died enroute to the Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield Monday.

Mr. BEATTY had been working in the field on a tractor when he became ill and was taken to the hospital at Bloomfield where his daughter, Ileen, is a nurse. He was a prominent citizen of Seymour and well known in the county. He was a member of the Wayne County Extension Council Committee and a leader in church and civic affairs.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Ileen of Seymour and Mrs. Darrell JORDON of Gibson City, Ill.; also three sons, Ronald of Seymour, Robert of Humeston, Jim of Cedar Rapids and Steve of Martinez, California; also his mother of Bloomington, Ill.

Funeral services will be held from the Methodist Church in Seymour at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, with burial in his old home town of Clearfield [Clearfield Cemetery].
