JOE MLINAR, HOLT PIONEER, DIES AT 83

Joseph A. MLINAR, 83 year old pioneer settler in this community died at 2:30 am Wed. Oct. 21 [1953], in Atkinson Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient for the past four weeks.

Mr. MLINAR had been a resident of this community for 69 years. He retired from the farm and moved to town 9 years ago. Suffering a stroke 6 years ago, Mr. MLINAR recovered and was quite active for some time, but his health had been failing for the past year and a half.

Funeral services will be held at the Methodist Church Fri afternoon at 2 o'clock; the Rev. G. HUGHES, pastor, officiating. Music will be by a male quartet composed of Robert HORNER, D. R. DAVIS, John SCHWARTZ and LaVern BRADY, accompanied by Mrs. Elaine HARSHFIELD.

Pallbearers will be six of Mr. MLINAR'S nephews, Anton TASLER, Lawrence PACHA, Adolph MLINAR, all of this community, and Lawrence JONAS of O'Neill, Harry MLINAR of Stuart, and Dan REISER of Butte. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery [Atkinson NE].

Joseph A. MLINAR was a son of Frank and Caroline KODYTEK MLINER. He was born March 9, 1870, in Ringgold County, Iowa, and came to Atkinson with his parents 69 years ago.

He was married to Miss Libbie KUBART at St Joseph Catholic Church in Atkinson on Feb 8,1898. For a short time after their marriage, they lived on a homestead 20 miles southwest of here, then moved to a farm 4 1/4 miles southeast of Atkinson, where they lived until they retired from the farm and moved to town 9 years ago. Mr. and Mrs. MLINAR celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1948, receiving their neighbors and friends at an open house at their home. The family dinner was served at Memorial Hall. All six members of the original wedding party were present for the occasion. Their 55th anniversary party last February was observed quietly with a family dinner at home.

Mr. MLINAR is survived by his wife, Libbie; sons, Charlie and Edward, both of Atkinson; daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Mildred) JOHNSON of Stuart, Mrs. George (Helen) BECK of Atkinson, Mrs. Merlin (Eva) QUIGLEY of Bellevue, Mrs. Dwaine (Hazel) LOCKMON of Stuart; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; one brother, Fred and two sisters, Mrs. Anton (Cora) TASLER Sr., and Chas. (Pauline) DAVIS, all of Atkinson.
