OBITUARY - ANNE LOUISE HAGGLUND

Visitations: 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services, 2907 Mulberry Ave.; and 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Shenandoah. Services: after visitation Tuesday, church.

Anne Louise HAGGLUND, 97, Muscatine, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006, at Riverbend Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Burial will be at Essex Cemetery, Essex. Arrangements by Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 406 E. Pioneer, Shenandoah, IA 51601.

Mrs. HAGGLUND was born Feb. 3, 1909, in Essex, the daughter of Jonas Albert "J.A." and Nora DUMIRE HALL. She married Oliver HAGGLUND in 1944 in Chicago, Ill.

She completed her early education in Essex, where she was valedictorian of her senior class. She was a graduate of Stephens College, Columbia, Mo., and the University of Iowa. She also did post graduate work at Northwestern University.

A life-long learner and educator, for 23 years she taught English and music in a number of Iowa public schools, including Lorimor, Milford, Mount Ayr, Jefferson and Atlantic.

She resided in Shenandoah before moving to Muscatine four years ago. She was an avid reader and always enjoyed listening to music, particularly opera.

Survivors include a sister, Carolyn BEVERIDGE of Muscatine; three nieces, Anne BEVERIDGE HARTLEY of East Aurora, N.Y., Mary BEVERIDGE of Providence, R.I. and Martha BEVERIDGE of New Orleans; a nephew, Richard S. HALL of San Francisco; a step-daughter, Phyllis WHISENAND of Littleton, Colo.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Patricia "Pat" BARLIN; and a brother, Richard A. HALL.
