OBITUARY - EZRA CONLEY

Funeral services for Ezra CONLEY [aged 83 years] who died Saturday morning [May 26, 1928] at the Soldiers' and Sailors' Home at Milford [NE], will be held at 2 O'Clock Monday afternoon at Castle, Roper and Matthews' Chapel with G.A.R., assisted by Rev C. L. MYERS in charge. Internment will be in Wyuka [Cemetery, Lincoln, Nebrasks].

Mr. CONLEY had been a resident of Nebraska for forty years, taking up his residence at the Soldiers' and Sailors' home about five months ago.

He is survived by his wife Agnes; five daughters, Mrs. John FOREMAN of Lincoln; Mrs. Fred NORTH of Plainview, Neb; Mrs. I. L. HEART of Ravinia, Ill; Mrs. Charles SHELDON of Glendale, Calif.; and Mrs Edwin MILKUS of McCook; and five sons, C. L. of Havelock; S. W. of Maxwell Okla.; J. A. of Groffer, (Prosser) Wash.; and D. H of Glendale, Calif.

NOTE: Ezra CONLEY was born October 26, 1844, the son of Simeon and Easter CONLEY of Clinton, Indiana. Ezra enlisted as a Private on February 29, 1864 at Mount Ayr, Iowa, and was mustered into Company G of the 29th Iowa Volunteer Infantry. He joined the Regulars on May 4, 1865 at Little Rock Arkansas. Ezra was honorably discharged on August 10, 1865, and mustered out of service on August 10, 1865, New Orleans. Ezra's brother James was killed in action during the Battle of Helena, Arkansas, on July 4, 1863.

Erza CONLEY married Agnes Ann CRAWFORD, the daughter of John Wallace and Julia (SHARP) CRAWFORD on December 24, 1868, Mount Ayr, Iowa. Agnes was born in Charleston, Lee County, Iowa, on January 12, 1854, and died at the age of 78 years in Plainview, Nebraska, on July 26, 1932. She was buried beside Ezra at Wyuka Cemetery, Lincoln, Nebraska.
