OBITUARY - CLARENCE BAKER

Clarence "Bake" BAKER, 88, of Bremerton died Sept. 17, 2000, at Alterra Clare Bridge of Silverdale.

He was born April 25, 1912, in Ringgold County, Iowa, to Harry and Martha (SHAFER) BAKER. He graduated from Carrington High School in Carrington, N.D., and from the University of Minnesota School of Mortuary Science. He also attended Valley City Teacher's College in North Dakota.

He married Mary KENNEDY in 1941 in North Dakota.

Mr. Baker served in the Navy from 1942 to 1945.

He worked as the superintendent of Forest Lawn Cemetery in Bremerton for 31 years, retiring in 1977.

Mr. Baker enjoyed bowling and golfing. He belonged to Summit Avenue Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Bill of Bremerton; a daughter, Jan BOGLE of Bremerton; a sister, Floy JONES of Hedrick, Iowa; a brother, Glen of Melbourne, Fla.; and one grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A funeral service is planned for 2 p.m. Thursday at Summit Avenue Presbyterian Church. Entombment will take place at Sunrise Terrace Mausoleum at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
