Marie A. MILLER of Commerce died Monday, June 20, 2005, at her home. She was 81.
MILLER was born Sept. 22, 1923, in Reger, Mo., to Leonard and Martha Ann (DILLARD) TIPTON. She lived in Commerce since 1945.
She worked as a powder dipper for 15 years at the Ammunition Plant in Parsons, Kan., during the Korean War. She worked in the Pantry at Shangri-La in Afton. She was a member of First Christian Church in Commerce.
She was married to Paul F. MILLER. He preceded her in death on Nov. 12, 1991. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Mildred LONG; two brothers, Ronnan TIPTON and Harold TIPTON, and one grandson, Gary CROUCH.
Survivors include three sons, Paul J. MILLER Jr. of Commerce, Harlin JONES of Miami and Phillip JONES of Ava, Mo.; one daughter, Alice CAMPBELL of Miami; two brothers, Gerald TIPTON of Picher and Herman TIPTON of Mount Ayr, Iowa; one sister, Kathleen MILLER of Grove, five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami with the Rev. Jack FRASIER officiating. Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery, northwest of Grove.
Pallbearers will be Tom TIPTON, David MARTIN, Darrel HENDERSON, Gerald TIPTON, Kevin MARTIN and Steve HARTMAN. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry "Pepper" CAMPBELL, Earl BEATY, Bob CHILDERS, Jack FRASIER and Tommy TIPTON Jr.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
