A. D. NYE

A. D. [Albert David] NYE, former Taylor County treasurer, was found dead at his home south of Mount Ayr Sunday. The funeral services were held at Athelstan Tuesday and burial made at that place.

OBITUARY - A. D. NYE

Albert David NYE, son of William and Louisa NYE, was born March 1, 1869 at Chester, Iowa, and died January 14, 1940, at his home south of Mount Ayr, at the age of 70 years, 10 months and 14 days.

He was united in marriage to Annetta SCOTT March 19, 1893, and to them four children were born: Edgar, who died in infancy, Thomas T. of Dunkerton, Iowa, Howard H. of Diagonal, Iowa, and Mrs. Grace BUNKER of Diagonal, Iowa. His wife Annetta died Nov. 16, 1927.

He was again united in marriage with Jesse BROWN Feb. 20, 1929, whom he leaves, together with an adopted son, Jeane.

Besides his immediate family, he leaves to mourn his loss, six grandchildren, two brothers and three sisters.

Mr. NYE was a member of the Baptist church of Athelstan and later transferred his membership to the Baptist church at Bedford. At Bedford Mr. NYE served four years as treasurer of Taylor County. Later he served four years as State Senator. The remainder of his life was devoted to the railroad until two years ago he retired and moved with his family to their present home, where he lived at the time of his death.

His death resulted from a heart attack. He had gone to the barn to look after livestock and it was there he suffered the attack.

The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 16, at the Baptist church in Athelstan, conducted by Rev. Geo. W. WARMAN. Burial was in the Athelstan cemetery.
