OBITUARY - MATTHEW BEVINGTON

Matthew BEVINGTON, 70, died Tuesday morning [September 3, 1980] at his home at 801 E. Carpenter, Creston, [Union County] IA.

Mr. BEVINGTON has been ill for a year. A Mass for him will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, at the Immaculate Conception Worship Center in Creston, IA. The Rev. Fr. Art McCANN of the Holy Spirit Parish and Rev. Fr. James KIERNAN of the Mount Ayr Parish will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, IA. A Wake is scheduled for 7:30 tonight at Rhoades-Wilson Funeral Home, with McCANN officiating. A memorial will go to the Creston Future Farmers of America.

Mr. BEVINGTON married Carolyn ANDERSON in 1935. They lived in Mount Ayr until 1976 when they moved to Creston. He is a retired State inspector of restaurants under the Department of Agriculture. Mr. BEVINGTON owned a restaurant in Mount Ayr, IA for 11 years.

He was a Veteran of WWII and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion; Elks and Holy Name Society.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Corwin Matthew and Rose Catherine (SHEIL) BEVINGTON

His survivors include his wife, Carolyn of Creston, IA., a daughter Mary Sue (Mrs. Dan) PENE of Creston, IA, a brother Harry BEVINGTON of Princeton, Illinois and two sisters, Ann BEVINGTON of Des Moines, Iowa and Bernice BENTLEY of Des Moines, Iowa.
