DEATH of MRS. ALONZO HALE.
Lizzie BANKS, daughter of Powell and Mariah BANKS, was born July 6, 1863, in Douglas county, Kansas, and died at her home in Mount Ayr, Iowa, May 18, 1924, after several weeks' illness. When three years of age she came with her parents to Harrison county, Missouri, where she grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage to Alonzo HALE, July 41, 1881. To this union was born six children, all of whom survive her with the exception of one daughter, who died in 1918. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, and five children, Francis P. HALE of Villisca, Iowa; James H., of Eagleville, Mo.; Ethel M. FOREMAN (deceased); Matthew HALE, of Eagleville, Mo.; Alice M. PADDOCK, of Kansas City, Ks.; and Ruiliah G. RICHARDSON, of Lamoni, Iowa; besides twenty-four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Mary McCARAY of Clarinda, Iowa, Mrs. Sarah BURNS, of Shenandoah, Iowa, Mrs. Eva DAVENPORT, Draper, S.D., and two brothers, John BANKS, Hamilton, Mo., and Matthew BANKS, Eagleville, Mo.
She was baptized in 1897 by Elder GUNSOLLEY and joined the church of the Latter Day Saints and kept this faith until her death.
Mrs. HALE was a woman that made friends readily and always had a smile and good word for everyone she met.
She leaves many friends in this community made since moving here seven years ago and only words of praise come from the communitics she leaves and we feel we have lost a kind and true friend.
The funeral was held from the church of the Latter Day Saints at Lamoni Tuesday forenoon, conducted by T. J. BELL [with interment at Rose Hill Cemetery, Lamoni, Decatur County, Iowa].
Card of Thanks.
We wish to thank the many friends and neighbors for their kindness and sympathy shown during the illness and death of our dear wife and mother.
