OBITUARY - SCHAWANDA GRIMES

Schawanda Rose GRIMES, daughter of Laurence & Viola Mae (FLETCHER) WHITESIDE, was born May 12, 1931 at Chestnut, IL.

Schawanda graduated from high school in Beason, IL in 1949. She worked at the ASCS office in Lincoln, IL before her marriage. On February 9, 1950, Schawanda was united in marriage to Donald Dean GRIMES in Beason, IL. Schawanda and Don lived and farmed near Clinton, IL for several years. In 1982, they moved to Kellerton [Iowa] and lived there until moving into Mount Ayr, Iowa in 1994.

Schawanda died on December 29, 2007 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa after a sudden illness.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Those left to mourn her passing include her husband Don of Mount Ayr; her children Julene Annette GRIMES of Wisconsin, Steven Lynn GRIMES of Lamoni, IA, Cindy Lou GRIMES of Mount Ayr, and Charles Michael GRIMES of Lawrenceville, IL; 5 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Mrs. GRIMES’ body was cremated. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on January 13, 2008 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Midwest Country Music Theater, north of Redding, Iowa.
