Ringgold Record, 1890

OBITUARY.

Died, August 5th, 1890, Mrs. H. W. GREENMAN, aged 56 years and 4 days. She was born in Ohio and moved with her parents to Indiana and from there to Illinois where she married H. W. [Horace Whitfield] GREENMAN, May 31st, 1852. In the spring of 1874, she and her husband came to Ringgold county, Iowa, where they have since made their home. Mrs. GREENMAN joined the Wesleyan Methodist church when 20 years of age and has since that time exemplified her profession by a godly walk and conversation. The writer has often in the last 2 years heard her speak of the peace and hope in believing in Christ. She was a great sufferer yet without a murmur, ever resigned to the will of God. In the summer of 1888 she went to the Black Hills, Dakota, where she remained three months and came back much improved in health. Being quite poorly this last winter and spring she thought to be benefited by a second trip. Health failed to return and after a few days of suffering she passed away at her daughter's home at Buffalo Gap, South Dakota. The husband has lost a companion. The children have lost their best earthly friend - a mother. Mr. GREENMAN is especially thankful to the ladies who so kindly helped to minister to the wants of his suffering wife. May he who says a cup of cold water given in the name of a disciple shall not lose his reward, bless them and comfort the bereaved family. Her remains were brought to Hamburg, Iowa, for burial [Hamburg Cemetery, Fremont County, Iowa]. Memorial services will be held at the Laird school house, Sunday, August 24th, at half-past four o'clock. --M. A. EVANS.
