OBITUARY – JOSEPH A. GRAHAM, Jr.

Dr. GRAHAM (ISU '42), 86, Milo, Iowa, died March 25, 2006. Prior to retirement, he was in mixed practice in Milo. Following graduation, Dr. GRAHAM practiced in Centerville, Iowa, for a year. From 1943-1945, he served in the Army Second Engineers Special Brigade.

Dr. GRAHAM was a past member of the Iowa Board of Veterinary Medicine and the National Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners. A life member of the Iowa VMA, he served on its executive board. Dr. GRAHAM was a past president of the South Central Iowa VMA. He received an SCIVMA award for outstanding service to the profession and the association in 2004, and was named Iowa Veterinarian of the Year in 2005.

Dr. GRAHAM directed and appeared in three educational films concerning surgical repair of scrotal hernias in swine, anaplasmosis prevention and control, and auction market practice. He was a member of the American Legion and served on the Milo City Council. Dr. GRAHAM's wife, Kathy; a son; and a daughter survive him. His nephew, Dr. Max A. MEKUS (ISU '69), is a veterinarian in Mount Ayr, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the Milo American Legion, Milo, IA 50166.
