OBITUARY - MRS. SARAH J. GARITY.

Sarah J. CLAYTON, daughter of David and Maria CLAYTON, was born in Ringgold county June 8, 1861, and passed peacefully away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Oren CAMPBELL, in Washington township, Tuesday, December 9, 1931.

She was united in marriage to P. H. GARITY in 1878 and to this union eight children were born. Her husband preceded her in death 19 years ago. Those left to mourn her death are: six children, Mrs. Mary PRICE of West Union, John and Fenton of Benton, Mrs. Sarah MANSON of Arlington, Mrs. Anna ELSTON of Adair, Mrs. Katie CAMPBELL of near Mount Ayr; one sister, Mrs. Maria CALDWELL of Arkansas City, Kan., who was unable to be present because of ill health; and 16 grandchildren.

Grandma GARITY, as she was known by many, was more than happy when caring for her children, grandchildren and friends. No task was too hard for her in case of illness.

Funeral services were held at the Catholic church in Mount Ayr Thursday, December 31, at 10 a.m., conducted by Rev. Father CULHANE, and the body laid to rest by her husband in the St. Marys cemetery at Maloy.
