OBITUARY
MRS. PEARLE FOLAND, GRAND RIVER, IOWAFuneral services for Mrs. Pearl (sic) FOLAND, 71, of Grand River, Iowa, were held this Monday, November 17, at 1 p.m. at the Grand River Methodist Church with burial following in that town.
Mrs. FOLAND died at 9 a.m. Saturday [at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City]. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Grant (Norma) BECKER of Grand River, a former Boone [Iowa] resident; 4 grandchildren, Sharon, Sheryl, Stanton, and Steven BECKER; 3 brothers, Otto BRAMAN (sic) of Idaho, Dwight BRAMAN (sic) of Burlington [Iowa], and Cleo BRAMAN (sic) of Idaho; and a sister, Mrs. Gladys ROSE of the State of Washington.

On November 7, 1898, Pearle Veva BRAMON began her life near Delphos in Ringgold County, Iowa. She was the eldest of five children born to Fred and Luella (YOUNG) BRAMON. She departed this life to be with the Lord, in Iowa City on November 15, 1969, at the age of 71 years and one week, following an illness of about two years.
In her childhood days she lived with her parents on a farm near Delphos, with the exception of two years when her parents lived near Creighton, Neb. She received her education in the Delphos school and in Grandview College in Des Moines. She served as a teacher in the Comstock School near Grand River for a year and later, went to work for her uncle, H. A. JOHNSTON, as a bookkeeper in the Johnston Garage in Grand River.
On February 1, 1920, she became the bride of Homer L. FOLAND in the home of her parents near Delphos. Their married life was spent on the FOLAND homestead near Grand River, until their retirement, when they moved into their new home in Grand River. Of this union, one child, Norma Gertrude, was born.
She attended the Tennessee Church for a number of years before becoming a faithful member of the Methodist Church and a member of the W.S.C.S. for many years. She served her church as organist and sang at a large number of funerals in the community. In her youth, Pearle was baptized in the Delphos Christian Church.
For many years she was a member of the “4-G” Club, being one of the first members when the club was organized. She was also a member of the Mutual Improvement Association of Grand River.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father and devoted husband.
Mrs. FOLAND was a kind, understanding mother and grandmother, who was always ready to help those in need. She will be missed by members of her family and friends. Those who survive beside her daughter, Norma, are her son-in-law, Grant BECKER; four grandchildren, Sharon Rae, Sheryl Kae, Stanton Lowell and Steven Doyle; a sister, Gladys ROSE of Edmonds, Wash.; three brothers Otto BRAMON of Nampa, Idaho, Cleo Bramon of Meridian, Idaho, and Dwight BRAMON of Burlington; her sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends and relatives.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Jerry EVELSIZER on November 18 from the Grand River United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Grand River Cemetery.
Organist Mrs. Freda HAMILTON accompanied vocalists Mrs. Wayne (Ann) PALMER and Glen PALMER as they sang Take My Hand Precious Lord, God Be With You, and The Lord’s Prayer. Casket bearers were Roy CLAWSON, Don MORRELL, Elmer SCOTT, Albert FOLAND, Edgar HARGER and Wellington TAYLOR. Slade Funeral home of Leon was in charge of the arrangements.
