OBITUARY - MRS. JOHN FLETCHER.

Mary Ellen ROACH, daughter of Levi and Sarah ROACH, was born near Washington Center, Mo., May 23, 1884. She grew to womanhood in northern Missouri, united with the Evangelical church of Hatfield in her early youth.

On March 12, 1902, she was married to John W. FLETCH. To this union were born six children - Everett age 13 and Lavinia age nine are still in the home; three daughters, Mrs. Liza ROBINSON, Mrs. Lena BAKER and Mrs. Virgil BAKER, and one little son Millard, age seven, passed away several years ago.

In 1928 the family moved north of Mount Ayr, spending most of the time in the present home.

Mrs. FLETCHER was a loving wife and mother, having the additional care of her little grandsons, Loren and Ray BARKER (sic), since their infancy.

She was of a hopeful, cheerful disposition, possessing great courage and patience during the past few years of her failing health. Two weeks ago she entered the Greater Community hospital at Creston, Iowa, and two days later submitted to an operation when a condition was found that would permit her to live but a few months. Owing to complications this time was greatly shortened and she passed away June 29, 1931, aged 47 years, one month and six days.

Her death was a shock to the community in which she lived where she will be greatly missed. She was always ready to do her share, never spoke ill of anyone and always tried to be helpful in every need.

She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, John W. FLETCHER; two children, Everett and Lavina; three grandchildren, Irvin, Loren and Ray BAKER; five brothers, Will ROACH of Mount Ayr, Iowa, Marion ROACH of Dalhart, Texas; Lewis ROACH of Waynoka, Okla., Eli ROACH of Allendale, Mo., and George ROACH of Bedford, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. Jane POTTER of Hatfield, Mo. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. Three brothers and one sister preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Hatfield, Mo., Wednesday, July 1, at two o'clock, conducted by the Rev. E. I. BLEVINS, pastor of the Tingley Methodist church, and inerment was in the Hatfield cemetery.
