OBITUARY - ALFRED FLETCHER.

Alfred FLETCHER was born in Queens county, Ireland, May 12, 1838. At the age of sixteen he came to the United States. Mr. FLETCHER was united in marriage March 22, 1868, to Miss Lydia Ann BETTS, who departed this life July 21, 1878. To this union were born five children; two of them preceded him to the better world. The living children are Mrs. Emma HILL and Miss Mary FLETCHER, both of Tingley,Iowa, and Mrs. Elizabeth GEDDES, of Fargo., N.D., who together with nine grand children and fourteen great grandchildren mourn his departure.

But his faithful and devotion to God and His kingdom, the patient endurance of almost total blindness during the last years, give them the assurance that his is the fine reward.

June 24, 1880, he was united in marriage to Anna McDONALD, who departed this life February 2, 1901. he came to Polk county, Iowa, many years ago, residing on one farm 48 years, and from here he departed this life March 13, 1925, aged 91 years, ten months and one day.

He was converted and united with the Methodist Episcopal church in 1876, and was faithful until "the Master of all good workmen set him to tasks in the heavenly kingdom." He was always willing to devote himself to the church and was keenly interested in Christian work. His character as a Christian gentleman was known and recognized at all times by all. The record is unsullied and like Enoch of old, he "walked with God."

A short service was held Saturday forenoon at 10:30 at the home of Rev. R. C. YOUNG. The body was taken to Farrar, Iowa, where a fitting service was held Sunday forenoon at 11 o'clock by Rev. C. R. YOUNG of Tingley, after which he was laid to rest in the family lot [Farrar Cemetery, Farrar, Polk County, Iowa].
