OBITUARY - ELUCAS NELSON DeWITT

Elucas Nelson DeWITT was born at Annawan, Henry county, Illinois, June 23, 1856, and was killed at a railroad crossing near Kent on December 4, 1923, aged sixty-seven years, five months. He was married to Miss Katie FOX, of Middleton, Ohio, March 29, 1883. To this union was born two sons, Maurice E. of Tingley and Harold F. of Lingle, Wyo. He came to Tingley, Iowa, February, 1885, where he resided until the time of his death. He was converted and joined the Methodist church at Cornwall chapel in 1907, transferring his membership to Tingley in 1915. He was a member of the Modern Woodman lodge of Tingley. Beside his wife and two sons he leaves to mourn his loss a sister, Mrs. E. E. FITZKEE, of Annawan, Ill., and a brother, H. S. DeWITT, of Newton, Iowa, three grandchildren and a host of friends.

The body was laid to rest in the beautiful cemetery at Tingley December 7.

The wife and children desire to thank the many friends for the beautiful flowers and the many kind words of sympathy expressed by the friends and neighbors.

NOTE: Katie "Kate" (FOX) DeWITT, wife of Elucas Nelson, was born in 1861 and died in 1934 with interment at Tingley Cemetery. Maurice E. DeWITT, son of Elucas Nelson and Katie "Kate" (FOX), was born October 28, 1884, and died in June of 1967 with interment at Tingley Cemetery.
