OBITUARY - JESSE FOSTER DEFENBAUGH

Jesse Foster, son of Henry and Phietta DEFENBAUGH, was born in Lincoln county, Ohio, October 14, 1879. He came with his parents to Ringgold county when a small boy where he grew to manhood.

On February 22, 1906, he was married to Iva BLUNCK. They made their home on a farm near the Eureka church. To this union two children were born, Inez Marie and Vanita Agnes.

He was a man of pleasing personality and made many friends. He was ambitious and hard working and led an active life until the beginning of his sickness. He was called in death November 21, 1928, at the age of 49 years, one month and seven days. He leaves to mourn his loss his two daughters, Mrs. Patrick SHERIDAN and Vanita DEFENDAUGH, of Winterset, his fathers and mother, five brothers, four sisters: Elmer DEFENBAUGH of Brush, Colo.; Mrs. Tom NAPIER, of Mount Ayr; Chas. DEFENBAUGH of Mount Ayr; Bert DEFENBAUGH of Redding; Mrs. Ray SAFER, of Blockton; Geo. DEFENBAUGH of Onawa; John DEFENBAUGH of Redding: Mrs. Howard RUSH of Corydon; one grandchild, a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends. One brother and one sister preceded him in death. In early manhood he united with the Christian church at Delphos where he retained his membership until the time of his death.

The funeral was held from Middle Fork church November 23, 1928, conducted by T. S. RHOADES, assisted by Rev. F. W. AMACK, of Redding, and Rev. J. H. BENNET, of Blockton. Burial was made in Middle Fork cemetery.

NOTE: Henry H. DEFENBAUGH, father of Jesse Foster, was born in 1846 and died in 1937, interment at Middle Fork Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa. Phietta (?) DEFENBAUGH, mother of Jesse Foster, was born in 1855 and died in 1943, interment at Middle Fork Cemetery. Sarah I. DEFENBAUGH was born August 30, 1889, and died June 19, 1890 with interment at Middle Fork Cemetery. (Was she Jesse's sister?)
