Marriage record details

Hello, I was wondering if anyone could advise. I am researching John W Armstrong who married Hannah Jane Carlisle (nee Matchett) on 21 Aug 1862 in Poweshiek County, but cannot get any further without more details on him.

Before I go ahead and investigate getting a copy (rather than the index - made more difficult as I'm in the UK) of their marriage record, could anyone tell me if the marriage records from the time include helpful info such as age and parents' names? I know it can be variable and if there isn't much more info than included on the index, it probably wouldn't be worth the trans-atlantic hassle!
