Robert J. Bullock, Jr., 62, passed away Friday, December 2, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center.
Robert was born on January 25, 1949, to Robert J. and Betty R. Bullock in Grinnell, Iowa. He graduated from Grinnell High School in 1967. Robert attended Marshalltown Community College and graduated from Bailey Technical School in St. Louis before entering the U.S. Army. On September 8, 1990, he married Shirley McAuley.
Robert was a member and Marshall of the Za Ga Zig Shrine and was Captain Emeritus of the Trike Unit, Past Master of Hermon Lodge and Past High Priest of Palestine Chapter in Grinnell, Past Patron of the Beulah Chapter of Eastern Star in Grinnell and Past Monarch of Hapac Grotto. He enjoyed computer games, was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and Iowa Hawkeye fan and die hard Chicago Cubs fan, but above all he loved spending time with his family.
Robert is survived by his wife, Shirley Bullock; daughters, Kindra (Lee) Miller and Stacy (Dennis Battaglia) Bullock; mother, Betty Davis; sister, Marilyn (Gary) Bacon; step-daughter, Heather (Max) Garcia; step-son, Eric (Katie Ketch) Small; eight grandchildren, Micaela, Destany, Madyson, Gabriella, Natalia, Anthony, Tanner and Madelyn; nephews, Daniel (Trisha) Beyer, Brian (Danielle) Beyer, Brian (Jodi) Bacon and Brett McAuley; nieces, Karla (Robert) Silvius and Sara McAuley; and seven great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Bullock, Sr.; infant sons, Robert James Bullock III and Jaime Lee Bullock; and his step-father, James Gould.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 8, 2011 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. followed by burial at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
