William E. Wilson died as a result of a four year feud with a neighbor when a fight ensued at the Art Swim farm southwest of Polk City on the Camp Dodge-Polk City Road. Wilson was hit with a spade by Emery Darr and died three hours later at the home of his brother-in-law, Sam Coburn in Polk City. There are many front page news items about the murder and the subsequent trial.
