Lost relative

Looking for any information of a Loren H. Brooks. In the 1860 census he is listed along with his wife and 2 daughters in Allen twp, Polk Co, Ia. Loren, Sarah J, Bellerenny and Henrietta. In 1870, both girls are living with different families in Hardin County (Where they came from) but they are not family members. Wondering if Loren and Sarah J. Brooks died in Polk or surrounding areas that may of lead to their daughters being adopted by other families. Thanks for any help.
