Joyce Anne Lenihan passed away November 17, 2011, at the Fountain West Nursing Home with the comfort of her family and Iowa Hospice. Internment was at Zearing Cemetery.
Joyce was born in Story County Iowa on March 22, 1917. She graduated from Des Moines Lincoln High School and then attended AIB. She worked at Central National Bank for 46 years, retiring in 1982.
For 60 years Joyce was a member of St. Augustine's Catholic Church where she sang or directed the choir and was a member of the St. Augustine's Alter and Rosary Society and Catholic Daughters of America.
In 1979 she was named "Outstanding Women of the Year" by the Des Moines Women's Chamber of Commerce and served on the Board of Directors for the Des Moines Civic Association, Des Moines Symphony, Women's Bureau of Des Moines Chamber of Commerce, and Des Moines Women Rotary Club.
She is survived and will be missed by her nieces and nephews Joyce Heiman, Judy (Heiman) and Kenneth Nelson, Dennis and Lou Heiman, Debbie (Heiman) and John Hartman, Jim and Emily Heiman, Tom and Patti Heiman, as well as great and great-great nieces and nephews, Jeffrey Nelson, Jennifer (Nelson) Burk, Shannon Burk, Jacob Burk, Cody Burk, Naura (Heiman) and Ben Godar, Henry Godar, Jenny (Heiman) and Matt Zimmerman, Mike and Michele Hartman, Chris Hartman and fiancé Kim Dixon, Hope Hartman, Ivy Hartman, Katelyn Heiman, Allison Heiman, Kate (Heiman) and Mark Bacome , Alicia Brand and Kelly Brand. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Lenihan; a brother, Dennis Dale; and a sister, Naureen (Mahlow) Heiman. Memorials may be directed to Iowa Hospice.
