Harold E. Lambert, 91, passed away November 22, 2011. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 29 at Merle Hay Funeral Home with burial and military honors to follow at Chapel Hill Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Harold was a World War II veteran who was able to go on the Iowa Honor Flight in 2010. He was a street car and bus driver and a Guard at the Iowa Des Moines National Bank where he retired from in 1981. Harold enjoyed working in his yard, and with Horses. He was also a member of the Sheriff's Posse in Indianola as well as a Des Moines Saddle Club. Harold and his wife, Delores, were regular attendees at the West Des Moines Senior Center where they made many friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Harold was preceded in death by his sister, Mildred Ramsey.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Delores; children, Terry (Edi) Lambert and Donna (Dwayne) Smith; grandchildren, Kevin Lambert, Lora Hacker, Cara Craig and Jill Schroeder; and great-grandchildren, Nathan, Kassidy and Roni Craig and Zach, Alex and Blayze Schroeder.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Iowa Hospice for their loving care of Harold, or the West Des Moines Senior Center.
