Bonita "Jean" Carson passed away peacefully at home on November 30, 2011. She was born on November 9, 1927 in West Bend, Iowa and spent her adult life in Des Moines. Jeanie had a tremendous love of life, filled with many interests including theater, music, reading and socializing. She had a large and varied group of cherished friends. Most dear to her was her family, including son, Mark Carson (Tammy) and grandchildren, Tristan and Troy of Hawaii; and daughter-in-law, Barbara Berglund Carson (Mel Schettler) and granddaughter, Julia, of West Des Moines. Her son, Scott predeceased her.
She is also survived by siblings, Marlene Harvey, Carl (Linda) Brown, Allene Sillen and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends and family, all of whom adored her. Her parents, brother, Warren and sisters, Mildred, Catherine and Georgia preceded her in death.
Services will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at First Methodist Church, 1001 Pleasant, Des Moines at 10 a.m. with visitation immediately prior thereto. Interment will take place at the West Bend Cemetery at 3 p.m. that afternoon. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the church or Mercy Hospice.
