Robert T. Brown, 88, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Taylor Hospice House in Des Moines, Iowa
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens 121 NW 60th Ave. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Robert Theodore Brown was born December 9, 1922 to Marion and Lillian (Stephens) Brown. He was born in Ingham, Nebraska, and graduated from Brady High School. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving during WWII. On October 30, 1945 Robert was united in marriage to Barbara Pieart, the couple was blessed with three children. Bob worked many years as a Machinist for Frye Manufacturing. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, gardening, and spending time outdoors. Most of all Bob loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his children, Sally (Dennis) Mentzer, Peggy Curtis, and Gary (Sheena) Brown; eleven grandchildren, Robyn, Dennis, Clayton, Todd, Angela, Robert, David, Irene, Louise, Barbara, and Heather; 19 great-grandchildren; siblings, Lillian Dishman, Ken Brown, Rose Kostman, Tom Brown, Vernon Brown, and Juanita Boyd; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Barbara; parents; and siblings, Dorothy, Marian, and Carl.
