Alan Keith Brown, Sr., 75, was born December 5, 1935, in Des Moines, the son of William and LaVeta Brown. He passed away unexpectedly Saturday, November 26, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center.
Keith retired from the Des Moines Register after 37 years of faithful service.
Keith is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Phyllis Brown; sons, Alan Keith (Melissa) Brown, Jr., Bill (Michelle) Brown and Larry Brown; daughter, Debbie Bolte; grandchildren, Sophia Brown, Kaden McNaney and one on the way; many nieces and nephews; other loving relatives and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Janiece Clark and his parents.
The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2011, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 1, 2011, at Union Park Baptist Church, 821 Arthur Avenue, with burial to follow at Carlisle Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Union Park Baptist Church or the Animal Rescue League in loving memory of Keith.
