Joseph Louis Abramovich, 91, passed away on June 24, 2012, at Bishop Drumm Care Center.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, June 29, at Our Lady of Peace Chapel, Bishop Drumm, in Johnston. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the mass. Burial will follow the mass at Beaver Catholic Cemetery in Granger, Iowa.
Joseph was born on April 1, 1921, to Gasper and Antonia Abramovich. He lived in the Granger Homestead area, as one of the original homesteaders, for all of his life before moving to Johnston in December 2004. Joseph was in the Air Corp's as an airplane mechanic and served in the Philippines during WWII. He was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Granger for many years. Joseph worked as a Mechanic for Beneventi Chevrolet for over 38 years. He enjoyed fishing, wood working and gardening.
Joseph will be missed by many cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary, Margaret and Katie; and brothers, Frank and Bill. Memorial contributions may be made to Assumption Catholic Church or Mercy Hospice in Johnston.
