Virginia Wood, 91, died Saturday, October 6, 2012, at Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, October 15, at Central Presbyterian Church in Des Moines. Private burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery at a later date.
Virginia was born and raised in Des Moines, graduated from Lincoln High School and was a south sider most of her life. She was a volunteer at the Convalescent Home for Children, Blank Hospital Guild, American Red Cross, West Des Moines Library, Central Presbyterian Church and Goodwill Auxiliary. Virginia also served as a docent at the Des Moines Art Center, Terrace Hill and the Salisbury House. She enjoyed playing Bridge and life in general.
Virginia is survived by her children, William J. Wood of Des Moines and Ellen Patricia Ramsey of Seattle, Washington, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, George and her brother, James.
