Mick Ashby died Sunday, October 14, 2012 in Des Moines, Iowa.
Mick was born on December 18, 1949 to Mary and Bob Ashby in Charition, Iowa. He graduated from Chariton High school with the class of 1968. He graduated for the University of Iowa in 1972. Mick worked for Drugtown Drugstores for 19 years and owned and operated Benchwarmers in Ankeny for 19 years.
He has been a resident of Ankeny since 1978. He was an avid Hawkeye fan. He enjoyed reading, keeping in touch with his many friends, and spending sunny days on the beach in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
Preceding Mick in death were his father, Bob Ashby; mother, Mary Ashby Moline; sister, Janie; step-father, Carl Moline; nephew, Robert; and grandson, Aiden Michael. He is survived by his daughters, Alecia of Los Angeles and Amy Ashby Brace of Ankeny; brother, Bill; niece, Kim Woods; great-niece and nephews, and many close friends.
At Mick's request he was cremated and his ashes will be spread of the coast of Puerto Vallarta. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family asks that all memorials be sent to P.O. Box 1321, Ankeny, IA 50023.
Mick will be greatly missed.
