Mary Jane "Mick" Miller succumbed to the infirmity of age one month past the date of her 92nd birthday. She was residing in Glendale, Arizona with her beloved daughter, TamiJane.
Mary Jane was born September 18, 1920, in Creston, Iowa. She came to Des Moines at age 17 after graduating from high school, to make her own way. She met and eventually married William E. "Pink" Miller in December of 1940, with three children born to this union.
Mary Jane acquired many business and accounting skills during her work years. She attempted flying lessons early on, although her short stature caused difficulty reaching the rudder pedals on the old open cockpit trainer. Her many experiences include working at Dial Finance and her 38 years with Williams Wilbert Vault Company in Des Moines as Executive Secretary and office manager, retiring at age 83.
Mary Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Bill E. Miller in 1986 and her son, William E. "Sandy" Miller in 1988. She is survived by her son, Robert Chuck Miller (Shari); her daughter, TamiJane "TJ" Miller Eberly Comer and two granddaughters, Amy E. Miller and Erin M. Miller.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Friday, October 26, 2012 at Iles Funeral Homes - Dunn's Chapel in Des Moines. A graveside service at Resthaven Cemetery, in West Des Moines will follow. Memorial contributions may be directed to Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, of which she was a longtime member.
