Darlene J. McCauley, 74, passed away, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Iles Funeral Homes - Grandview Park Chapel. Her family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home. A vigil service will begin at 5 p.m. Private family burial will be held at a later date.
Darlene was born January 28, 1938 in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Marion and Audrey Drish. Darlene graduated from Maquoketa High School. Darlene met and married Leo Kaiser. She worked as a private nurse and loved working with the elderly.
Later in life, Darlene met and married David McCauley and they lived in McGregor, Iowa from 1995 to 2009. She moved back to Des Moines to be with her family, following David's death.
Darlene loved spending time with her family and enjoyed dancing, singing and playing piano, organ and the accordion.
Darlene is survived by her children, Kevin (Beverly) Kaiser, Keith (Sheila) Kaiser, Ken (Katie) Kaiser, Bev (Dave) Wignall, Wayne (Tina) McCauley and Shaunna Fertig ; 16 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sister, Marian (Lloyd) Stecklein and brothers, Ron Drish and Fred (Ann) Drish. She was preceded in death by, her parents; husbands Leo and Dave; daughter, Jolene and grandson, Dennis.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Diabetes Association.
