LaVaun Smeltzer was welcomed into Heaven on Saturday October 20, 2012 at the age of 84. She was born February 22, 1928 in Adel, IA and in October of 1945 she married James Smeltzer. LaVaun loved adventure and rode RAGBRAI from start to finish in 1983 and again in 1984. She is preceded in death by her husband and her son Jim.
She will be greatly missed by her twin sons Jack Smeltzer of West Des Moines, IA and John Smeltzer of Bentonville, AR.
A graveside celebration of her life will be held on October 29, at 2 p.m. at the Wiscotta Cemetery in Redfield, IA.
