Elaine Rose Ceaser, 84, passed away peacefully Friday, November 2, 2012 at Taylor House Hospice. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 8, 2012, at Hamilton's Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, Altoona, with burial to follow at Altoona Cemetery.
Elaine was born October 29, 1928 near Keystone in Benton County, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Rosa (Tecklenburg) Oehlerich. She grew up in the Keystone, Iowa area. After her marriage to Harold Ceaser, they resided on a farm near Gilman, Iowa for over thirty years and subsequently moved to Altoona, Iowa in 1983. She was a member of the Eastern Star for over 50 years and the Altoona United Methodist Church. Elaine was most knowledgeable on roses and was able to share all aspects of growing them. She enjoyed gardening and collecting quilts and antiques.
Elaine is survived by sister, Evelyn Hartz of Cedar Rapids; children, Hugh (Vickie) Ceaser of Urbandale, Carol (Dan) Thompson of Pine Hill, New Mexico, and Robert Ceaser of Denver, Colorado; grandsons, Paul (Marisa) Ceaser, Scott (Tennille) Ceaser, David (Kate) Thompson, Ben (Hayley) Thompson and Sam Ceaser; and one great- granddaughter, Abigail Thompson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Ceaser; brothers, Ray, Roland and Robert Oehlerich; sister, Eleanor Schneider; and son, Mark Ceaser;
The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Altoona Order of the Eastern Star, Altoona United Methodist Church or Taylor House Hospice.
