Thomas S. "Tom" Taylor, II, 60, passed from this life on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. The family will greet friends from 1 to 3 p.m., on Saturday, November 10, at Iles Funeral Homes, Westover Chapel in Des Moines. In recognition to all NFL football games, there will be no services on Sunday. Funeral services honoring Tom's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, November 12, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Masonic Cemetery in Des Moines.
Tom was born the son of Thomas Sterling and Betty Jean (Coon) Taylor on December 7, 1951 in Des Moines, IA. He was formerly employed with Pirelli Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company as a tire builder. Tom was a member of Waveland Park Masonic Lodge #654 and West Des Moines Christian Church. He was an avid and loyal Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Bears Fan. Tom will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived and lovingly remembered by his mother, Betty Taylor of Des Moines; five children, Kayl (Todd) Armstrong of New Virginia, IA, Thomas S. Taylor, III of Grimes, James Taylor of Menifee, CA, and Samuel (Deana) Taylor and Timothy (Vivian) Taylor both of Des Moines; two sisters, Sharon M. (Tom) Smith of Graham, TX and Judy (Dave) Kapolka of Eldridge, IA; 14 grandchildren; and a host of several nieces and nephews and many friends. Tom was preceded into eternal life by his father.
The family has respectfully requested that any memorial contributions be made to either the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
