Charles I. Long, 81, of Polk City, died of pneumonia Friday, November 9, 2012, at Sunny View Care Center, in Ankeny.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at Memorial Services of Iowa funeral home (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd.). A visitation will be held 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, November 12, also at the funeral home.
Chuck was born October 6, 1931, to Leon and Blanche (Erb) Long, in Des Moines, Iowa.
On June 7, 1953, he and Beverly A. Jensen of Ringsted, Iowa, were married at Grace Brethren Church, in Des Moines. Chuck held various jobs in the area, but most of his career was spent in commercial construction.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Bev; four children, Mark (Teri) Long, Ric (Elaine) Long, Dianne (Scott) Elsasser, and Sherri Lane. He was blessed with twenty-seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Elaine, of Des Moines
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Barry Lane; and two grandchildren, Ezra and Mara Joy Long.
