Loren D. Littrell, 84, passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2012, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. In agreement with his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Loren will be privately entombed at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel.
Loren was born on May 28, 1928 at Boone, Iowa, to Harry Glen and Mildred Iantha (Shepherd) Littrell. He attended the University Of Iowa in Iowa City. Loren was a navy veteran of World War II. On December 27, 1950, He was united in marriage to Carolyn Ruth Otting in Cascade, Iowa. After 25 years of service, Loren retired from Employer's Mutual Companies as Vice-President. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly 62 years, Carolyn Littrell of Windsor Heights; three sons, Brad Littrell of Monson, MA, Brian Littrell of Livermore, CA and Paul Littrell of Grandview, MO; two daughters, Lisa Littrell-Smiley and her husband, Stephen Smiley of Van Meter and Suzanne Conway of Gibsonia, PA; brother, Wilmer Littrell of Marshalltown, IA; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren on the way. Loren was preceded in death by his parents.
The deceased had requested that, in lieu of flowers, any memorial contributions should be made to the Salvation Army.
